Always Look Before You Cook
I have a recipe for black beans that I used to make all the time, but haven’t made in probably six months or more. It sounded good today, so I diced an onion and some garlic and threw them in a pan of hot oil, and then, only when it was time to add in the beans, did I think to check if we had any. We didn’t. We also didn’t have any chili powder, another key ingredient. So, I used a can of cannellini beans and seasoned them with salt and pepper. Not what I was going for, but it’s fine. Everything’s fine. 😒
