I Bought Another Old Thing
I absolutely did not feel like riding my bike today, but I needed to. I’ve learned, in my old age, that I need to get out and move every day or I get anxious, depressed, and nihilistic, so I forced myself out of the house late this afternoon. It helped that I had a mission.
I was in Goodwill yesterday when I saw an old VCR for sale. I thought about buying it, but they wanted $15 for it. $15! That’s absurd, I thought, but then I went home and looked on eBay and Craigslist and found out that you can’t find a VCR for less than $50, and most of them are over $100, so $15 seems like a steal.
So, the stupid VCR has been on my mind all day, but I just didn’t feel like riding all the way to the other end of town. Because I was starting to really feel bad, I knew I needed to ride, and since the Goodwill is right off of my normal route, I stopped in and bought it.
I had no idea if it worked or not, but I was kind of hoping it didn’t, so I could tinker with it. It’s dirty, but it actually mostly works.

There’s audio, and a bit of a picture poking through the static, so all hope is not lost.

It will be fun to take it apart and see what’s inside.
