I Finally Made It To The Beach This Summer!
I rode from Main St. to Rincon today. I’ve done this ride at least once a year for the past nine years. There have been years when we rode it more than once, and maybe a year or two when we didn’t make it out there at all, but I would estimate I’ve ridden this route at least a dozen times.
Today, however, kicked my ass harder than it ever had before. I don’t know if it was because there was a strong headwind, my back wheel was too tight, I’m out of shape, or, worst of all, I’m just fucking old now. Are things like this just going to become increasingly more difficult from here on out? I don’t think I’m there yet because the ride back was much easier, as the wind was at my back the whole way.
There’s something about riding along that stretch of coast that hits unlike any other ride I’ve done. If I don’t get out there at least once each year, I feel like I missed out on the whole summer, so I’m glad I made it out there today.
