It’s A Literal Metaphor For My Life, Currently
I spent my day redigging this hole. I dug it on Wednesday when the house flooded to try to find the sewer line, and then filled it in on Friday when it seemed like the sewer line was no longer clogged. It backed up again yesterday, so I spent today digging. I dug all the way down below the foundation, but didn’t find the sewer line. Obviously, I didn’t dig in the right spot.
Bonnie called a plumber, but he can’t be here until Tuesday afternoon. So, in the meantime, I decided to replace the water filter. The housing was cracked, so it’s been leaking for some time. We bought a new one and I installed it, and then spent the next two hours playing whack-a-mole with leaky fittings. This whole thing started with a leaky fitting, but when I installed the new one, the leak moved to two different fittings. So, I took it off, reattached everything, and reinstalled it, and the leak had moved again. I did that about six times, and each time, the leak moved between the four connections. I finally gave up when I couldn’t stop the leak at the outlet of the filter.

Before I messed with it, the leak was on the inlet side, so at the end of the day, I ended up in exactly the same position that I started in, but with a giant hole and a hundred and fifty fewer dollars.
