Just In Case I Had Any Lingering Doubts
I hate woodworking. My garage had once been organized around woodworking and building things generally, but I realized that I didn’t actually enjoy making stuff, so I spent the entire month of January reorganizing my garage and getting rid of the majority of my tools and the things that didn’t bring me joy, as the woman says.
I kept some essentials in case I needed to fix something, and to be sure I really was done with the maker life. Any misgivings I had were thoroughly quashed this afternoon when I made these two wooden frames. I didn’t enjoy a second of it.
That horder mentality won’t let me just get rid of all of it, though. What if I need to make something? Am I just going to buy everything I need from here on out? There has to be some sort of middle ground.
At no point this year have I regretted getting rid of anything. Actually, it’s been just the opposite. I’m annoyed that some of the stuff I was trying to sell hasn’t sold yet, and it’s still taking up space in my garage.
On a positive note, my collection of scrap wood is a tiny bit smaller now.
