Green hills, blue sky
A Photo A Day

My Blue Heaven

Richard

It’s a remarkable picture for a few reasons. I haven’t seen these hills so yellow from mustard flowers since 2019 after the Woolsey Fire burned through these in late 2018. It rained in December after the fires, and in the spring the hills were bright yellow. I had never seen so much yellow before. This is the yellowest the hills have been since then.

It’s also remarkable that the grass is still so green so late in April. Normally, the hills have already started fading into blonde by now. We haven’t even had much rain this year, which makes it all the more strange. When the hills look like this, it doesn’t seem like such a bad place to live. It never lasts long, though.
