Where Were Ya’ll On November 5th?

Richard

Oh, that’s right, you were parading around town waving Trump flags and generally making a nuisance of yourselves. The city I live in was still having Trump parades months after the election. That’s why when I made the mistake of going to the grocery store across the street from the government center this afternoon, I was more than surprised to see all four corners of the intersection swamped with people protesting Trump’s deportation policy.

There were signs that read I drink my horchata hot because FUCK ICE, and others but that’s the only one I can remember. There was also one lone woman standing in the center divider, waving a Free Palestine flag. But to my great surprise, I didn’t see anyone who seemed to be supporting Trump. Where were they?

This city overwhelmingly turned out for Trump back in November. They had parades every weekend, planted signs in their yards, and hung flags on their houses. Yet, mysteriously, they have all disappeared and have been replaced by passionate anti-Trump protesters. Why?

Why now? What the fuck does it matter now? The fox is already in the hen house. Where was all this passion six months ago when it mattered? Or is it that everyone I saw waving signs and flags were all of the people who didn’t support Trump last year? I don’t know, and I don’t understand.

I don’t understand why it always takes the worst-case scenario for people to realize the consequences of their actions. Especially when so many other people predicted what we now have to suffer through because so many millions of people didn’t think he meant them.
